Tower Crane Solutions for Every Lifting Challenge

Whether you need a compact self-erecting crane for a residential project or a heavy-duty luffing jib for a congested urban site, Potain covers the full lifting spectrum.

Flat-top tower crane

Flat-Top Tower Cranes

Hammerhead-free design for multi-crane sites. Lifting capacity 6–64 t, jib length 50–80 m, free-standing height up to 65 m. Simplified erection without cathead assembly reduces installation time by up to 30%.

Self-erecting crane

Self-Erecting Tower Cranes

Unfolds and is operational within 30 minutes — no assist crane required. Lifting capacity 1–6 t, jib length 16–50 m. Transport on a single truck. Ideal for residential, renovation, and modular construction.

Luffing jib crane

Luffing Jib Tower Cranes

Minimum out-of-service radius for dense urban environments. Lifting capacity 12–50 t, luffing angle 25°–87°. Prevents oversailing of adjacent properties — essential for compliance with city planning restrictions.

Topless tower crane

Topless Tower Cranes

Reduced total height for aviation-restricted zones and height-limited sites. Lifting capacity 8–24 t, jib length 45–65 m, counter-jib length 35% shorter than conventional models. Faster erection and dismantling cycles.

Why Potain

Reliability That Keeps Your Project on Schedule

Tower crane downtime costs contractors thousands per hour. Potain cranes are engineered for maximum uptime with global parts logistics that keep your machines lifting.

Discuss Your Lifting Needs

High Lifting Capacity

Tip-load capacities from 1 t on compact self-erecting models up to 64 t on heavy-duty flat-top cranes. Optimized load moment limiters ensure maximum productivity within safety margins.

72-Hour Parts Delivery

Regional warehouses in Europe, Asia, Middle East, and Latin America stock over 12,000 part numbers. Most critical components — hoist ropes, brake linings, frequency inverters — ship within 72 hours.

CE & ASME Certified

All Potain cranes comply with CE Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and ASME B30 crane safety standards. Load moment limiters, anti-collision systems, and wind speed sensors are standard equipment.

On-Site Commissioning

Potain engineers supervise erection, commissioning, and operator training on site. Annual inspection programs and predictive maintenance contracts available for fleet operators.

Client Testimonials

Trusted by Contractors on Five Continents

"We operated three Potain flat-top cranes simultaneously on our 42-story mixed-use development in Dubai. The anti-collision system worked flawlessly — zero near-miss incidents over 18 months. Spare parts arrived within 48 hours every time."
Ahmed Al-Mansoori
Project Director — Gulf Rise Construction, Dubai
"The self-erecting cranes saved us three days of setup time on each of our residential sites. We run 12 units across Southeast Asia — Potain's regional warehouse in Singapore keeps our fleet availability above 97%."
Nguyen Thanh Binh
Fleet Manager — VietBuild Group, Ho Chi Minh City
"We needed luffing jib cranes for a city-center hospital expansion with no oversailing permission. Potain's engineering team provided a detailed lifting study, and the crane performed exactly as specified. We've since ordered four more units."
Carlos Mendes
Procurement Manager — Construtora Mendes, São Paulo
Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions from Tower Crane Buyers

A flat-top (topless) tower crane has no cathead or pendant ropes above the jib — the jib connects directly to the slewing platform. This lowers the overall crane height, making it suitable for aviation-restricted zones, and allows multiple cranes to overlap jibs on congested sites without height separation requirements. Hammerhead cranes have a traditional cathead with pendant ropes providing additional jib support, which can offer higher lifting capacities at long radius but requires greater vertical clearance between overlapping cranes.

Self-erecting tower cranes are transported as a single folded unit on a standard truck trailer. On site, an integrated hydraulic unfolding mechanism extends the mast, jib, and counter-jib sequentially. The entire process takes 20–30 minutes and requires only one operator. No auxiliary mobile crane is needed for erection or dismantling, which reduces mobilization costs by 40–60% compared to conventional tower cranes. Maximum hook heights range from 20 m to 45 m depending on the model.

All Potain tower cranes are CE marked under the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and comply with ASME B30.3 (Tower Cranes) and ISO 4301 crane classification. Safety systems include load moment limiters (LMI), anti-two-block devices, wind speed anemometers, and optional anti-collision systems for multi-crane configurations. ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturing ensures consistent quality control throughout production.

Standard production lead time is 10–14 weeks from order confirmation. Self-erecting models are often available from stock with 4–6 week delivery. For large-capacity flat-top and luffing jib cranes, our engineers conduct a pre-delivery foundation design review to ensure site readiness. Ocean freight is arranged CIF or FOB as required, with primary loading ports in Shanghai and Marseille.
